Talent - Aktar Islam

Brummie-born Aktar introduced Indian Fine Dining to Birmingham with his hit restaurant Lasan. An Indian street café concept, Raja Monkey, soon followed. He then began to travel extensively for inspiration, returning from Canada to launch Nosh & Quaff (lobster & cocktails) and from Argentina to open Fiesta Del Asado (an Argentinian steak restaurant). Research and travel are key to his obsession with authenticity and detail in his cooking. Now very much part of the cooking establishment in Britain, his new high-end venture is Opheem a 70 cover restaurant. It is his most creatively ambitious venture yet. Serving progressive Indian gastronomy with a menu that takes you on a journey through Indian cooking from the foundations of the grand cuisine of the 13th Century to the era of the British Raj. Michelin is in his sights.
